Strategic Plan Goal:

Strategic Plan Goal A - Financial Stability: Foster fiscal health through long-term planning, cost control, increased revenues, and cost recovery. The receipt of grant funds increases revenue to the City's general fund to off-set the cost of projects. Strategic Goal B - Public Safety: The radio system improves the reliability and capacity of the radio communication system used for emergency response and coordination.

Background:

The Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) provides state, local, tribal and territorial emergency management agencies with the resources required for implementation of the National Preparedness System and works toward the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation. The EMPG’s allowable costs support efforts to build and sustain core capabilities across the prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery mission areas.

Discussion:

The City of Victorville was allocated $13,397.10 in EMPG funds for Fiscal Year 2024, which has a performance period from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2026. The City utilized these funds for the purchase of radio communication equipment to expand the City's emergency communication capabilities. This purchase was deemed allowable per the grant requirements and will assist the City during natural disasters or emergencies.

The purchase was completed in accordance with the required timelines listed in the FY24 EMPG Project Approval Notification (Attachment B).
