Background:
City Detect is an advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform tailored to improve staff services through the analysis of property images. This innovative technology identifies various public nuisance conditions including property blight, structure damage, property maintenance needs, and graffiti throughout all areas of the City.
With AI cameras mounted on City street sweepers and select Code Compliance vehicles, City Detect will significantly improve the efficiency of proactively identifying and documenting code violations within residential and commercial areas. The platform delivers comprehensive and up-to-date reports in real-time on property conditions facilitating rapid and precise identification of blight. This capability enables City staff to proactively address significant problematic areas expediting notification and assistance to our residents to quickly improve community standards in addition to providing Code Compliance staff with essential data to make informed decisions.
Discussion:
City Detect utilizes AI cameras to analyze images captured by select city vehicles. This allows for real time identification of code violations, graffiti, unmaintained properties, and trash accumulation in public areas and on private property. The AI algorithms used by City Detect are designed to automatically recognize and blur faces and license plates in real-time, ensuring that individuals or vehicle plates cannot be identified from captured images.
The initial City Detect service implementation will include installing a total of six (6) AI cameras onto five (5) street sweepers and one (1) Code Compliance vehicle. Thereafter, software set up and coordination will occur between Code Compliance Department staff and City Detect personnel to define and categorize violations, property conditions, establish appropriate staff notification workflow and implement real-time software reports.
Categorizing and rating these images will assist assigned Code Compliance staff to focus on significant blight conditions that will adhere to our established Code Compliance case management processes.
