Engineering FY 2026
Q4 Quarterly Update
City of Victorville
Engineering Department
April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026
Your Engineering Department worked very hard in the fourth and final quarter of Fiscal Year 2026. As we get ready to start Fisca l Year 2027, I am proud to report on the progress of your Engineering Department this last quarter:
• Engineering staff completed our street improvement project on Ridgecrest Road from Bear Valley Road to Pahute Avenue. The pr oject mostly addressed the deficient pavement but also increased walkability by constructing new sidewalk on the east side of Ridgecrest Road north of Bear Valley Road and extended the median at the intersection. • Similarly, Engineering staff completed our street i mprovement project on Roy Rogers Drive from Amargosa Road to I-15. The pr oject reconstructed the failed pavement and constructed a new raised ce nter median east of Civic Drive.
• Engineering staff was present at our annual Spring Festival & Egg Hunt at Hook Park on Saturday March 27 th . It was great to see our public and talk to you about our upcoming projects. We look forward to meeting you in person at our Concerts in the Park this summer.

I wanted to take a minute and explain the reason wh y we constructed the raised center medians on Ridgecrest Road and Roy Ro gers Drive: Safety .

According to the Federal Highway Administration (FH WA) vehicular crashes decrease by approximately 40% to 53% when raised me dians are constructed and they reduce pedestrian crashes by 46% at marked crosswalks and by 39% at unmarked locations. These improvements make Vict orville safer and that is why we invest in them.

As we head into the summer, Engineering staff will have multiple projects that will soon begin construction including the construction offire hydrants on La Mesa Road, the installation of approximately 16,000 linearfeet of CIPP sewer main lining, the installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at nine separate locations, the construction of block walls atmultiple well sites, the construction of a 1 Million Gallon tank for our recycled water at SCLA, the installation of 8,000 LF of water pipeline on Amethyst Road that will connect the City’s domestic water system to the State Water Project.

To say we will be busy in the next 6 months is an understatement.

A Message from the City Engineer Our engineers, surveyors, plan checkers, inspectors , drafters, and admin staff work very hard to ensure that the City’s infr astructure is improved each day.

Lastly, I would like to dedicate this Quarterly Repo rt to Senior Civil Engineer Victor Fajardo who retired on June 30 th . Victor was with us for over 20 years and he completed quite a few projects in his tenure . Wishing you a long and blessed retirement, Victor. Thank you very much.

Thank you,
Fredy A. Bonilla, City Engineer

TRAFFIC

ENGINEERING
A stop ahead sign was installed on the downhill approach to the intersection to give drivers advance notice of the stop sign. This improvement increases driver awareness and provides additional time to reduce speed before reaching the intersection.

Pahute Ave & Tamarisk Rd

Truck restriction signs were installed to prohibit trucks over 12,000 GVW or 96 inches in width from entering the roadway.

These signs help protect the pavement from excessive wear, reduces conflicts with local traffic, and improves overall roadway safety as Green Tree Boulevard is not a designated truck route.

Green Tree Blvd & Hesperia Rd and
Bear Valley Rd & Ridgecrest Rd

Following a resident complaint, an advanced intersection warning sign was installed to alert drivers of the upcoming right-side street. A yellow diamond marker sign was also installed at the corner to make the turn more visible and easier for drivers to identify, improving o verall intersection safety.

Bear Valley Rd & Pluto Dr

Pansy Rd & El Evado Rd
In response to a resident complaint regarding unaut horized off-road vehicle activity and shortcut traffic, road markers were installed to block vehic le access, and a no trespassing sign was added.

These improvements help prevent unauthorized access , reduce dust and debris impacting nearby homes, and preserve the surrounding area.
