Recommendation:
That the Honorable City Council review and file the attached Economic Development Newsletter.

Strategic Plan Goal:
The Economic Development Newsletter supports the City’s Strategic Plan, Goal C, Strategy 2 and Strategy 7 by providing transparency and communication regarding the Division’s ongoing efforts to support business growth, investment, and revitalization. Through regular updates on business attraction initiatives, development activity, business support programs, marketing efforts, and community partnerships the newsletter highlights the City’s continued commitment to economic growth.
Background:
As part of the City’s Strategic Plan, Goal C, Strategy 2 and Strategy 7, the Economic Development Division works year-round to support business growth through targeted marketing efforts, relationship building, and the pursuit of new development opportunities. In February 2026, the Division expanded its responsibilities to include housing and grant opportunities, further supporting the City’s efforts to promote investment, community development, and economic growth. The Economic Development Division supports business retention by actively engaging with local businesses to strengthen relationships between the business community and City staff, while also promoting Shop Local campaigns to encourage residents to support local businesses and strengthen Victorville’s economy.
To highlight these efforts and accomplishments, staff provides a biannual Economic Development Newsletter to the City Council highlighting local economic activity, new developments, and Division initiatives.
Discussion:
As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to achieve the strategies outlined in the adopted Strategic Plan for Community and Economic Development, this Newsletter provides updates on key projects, programs, departmental activities, and performance indicators. The Economic Development Division will continue 4 8

to provide biannual updates to the City Council highlighting recent accomplishments, initiatives, and economic development activities. Staff remains available for any questions you may have.
