TRAFFIC

ENGINEERING
Signal timing was updated to accommodate the new north leg (southbound Amethyst Road approach) of the intersection. Thetiming modifications included adjustments to pedestrian timing, minimum green time, yellow clearance time, and red clearancetime.Additionally, an asphalt concrete (AC) berm was installed on thenorth leg to improve pedestrian safety by restricting vehiclesfrom making uncontrolled right-turn movements through thepedestrian crossing area. The improvement helps better definethe vehicle path and reduces potential conflicts between rightturning vehicles and pedestrians.

Mojave Dr & Amethyst Rd
The Traffic Division received several complaints regarding off-road vehicles accessing the dirt area at the end of Laurel Oak Road. Recently,an off-road buggy caught fire in the area; fortunately, the incident wasbrought under control. To address the safety concerns and prevent unauthorized vehicle access, the dirt access area was blocked to restrict off-road vehicles fromentering the site.
