That the proposed General Plan Amendment from Low Density R esidential to Commercial Mixed Use is consistent with the original commercial use of the si te and would be appropriate for the proposed expansion of the existing com mercial building. Land Use Element Objective LU -O-22 provides for creating inclusive compac t neig hborhoods with opportunities for neighborhood commercial services while Land Us e Element Objective LU- O-28 encourages the promot ion of pede strian-oriented retai l along transit corridors .
Furthermore, the Mooney Boulevard corridor is largely designated Mixed Use Commercial and already serves as a commercial hub for the surrounding area. Application of C -MU zoning to the easternly site support s expansion of onsite improvements upon a parcel historically used as a parking lot.
