A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VISALIA
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A REVISED FREEWAY
AGREEMENT FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS TO STATE HIGHWAY ROUTE
198 FROM 0.2 MILES EAST OF STATE HIGHWAY
ROUTE 99 TO 1.0 MILES EAST OF LOVERS LANE
WHEREAS, the State of California entered into Freeway Agreements with both the City of Visalia and the County of Tulare for the above stated portion of State Highway Route 198; and WHEREAS, the original Freeway Agreement, for State Highway Route 198, between the State of California and the City of Visalia was dated December 7, 1959; and WHEREAS, said Freeway Agreement has been updated periodically as conditions change, the last update being dated November 18th, 2013; and WHEREAS, The City has annexed certain areas including portions of such freeway covered by agreements with the County of Tulare; and WHEREAS, freeway improvements have been made to State Highway Route 198 including the Akers Street Interchange Improvements; and WHEREAS, the upcoming Lovers Lane (SR216) Improvement Project is anticipated to begin which will require modifications to local streets; and WHEREAS, a revised agreement and plan map for the upcoming Lovers Lane (SR216) Improvement Project has been prepared showing the plan of the State as it affects streets of the City including the anticipated closure of a local street; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held before the Visalia City Council on September 6th, 2022, in accordance with Streets and Highways Code Section 100.22; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Visalia finds that said revised Freeway Agreement is in the public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Visalia does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute said revised Freeway Agreement between the City of Visalia and the State of California for the improvements to State Highway Route 198 from 0.2 miles east of State Highway Route 99 to 1.0 miles east of Lovers Lane.
