Re: 06-48740 CALDWELL AVENUE INTERCHANGE CONCURRENCE LETTER Dear Mohamad Annan,
The City of Visalia has reviewed the two options for the construction of the Caldwell Avenue Interchange at S/R 99. Option 1 is for the closure of Caldwell Avenue over S/R 99 and the railroad for approximately 10 months to construct the new overcrossings and the roundabouts on either side of the overcrossings. Option 2 is to have Caldwell Avenue over S/R 99 and the railroad open during the entirety of the construction process.
The City of Visalia is in concurrence with Option 1 for the closure of Caldwell Avenue over S/R 99 during the construction of the overcrossing. The City of Visalia supports the shortened duration of the project construction schedule and the anticipated cost savings associated with the closure of Caldwell Avenue for the construction of the overcrossings and associated roadway improvements.
The City of Visalia is willing to work with Caltrans for the improvements to the Caldwell Avenue Interchange project which will be a benefit to the region and aligns with the City’s long range planning goals for this area.
