Citizens are now invited to comment on issues within the jurisdiction of the Visalia City Council. The Council asks that you keep your comments concise and positive. Creative criticism, presented with appropriate courtesy, is welcome.
Each speaker will be allowed three minutes and a timer will notify you when your time is expired. Please begin your comments by stating and spelling your name and providing your city of residence.

Contact Name and Phone Number: Michelle Nicholson, Chief Deputy City Clerk Department Recommendation: Staff recommends for Council to conduct interviews with a possible appointment to fill the Planning Commission seat that will be vacated by Commissioner Chris Gomez, who will be completing his fourth and final term ending June 30, 2023.
Background Discussion: The Planning Commission had two seats with terms ending June 30, 2023. Commissioner Chris Tavarez expressed an interest in continuing to serve and is in good standing for reappointment. Commissioner Chris Gomez will complete his fourth and final term and is not eligible for reappointment.
Fiscal Impact: None
Prior Council Action:. January 17, 2023 the Council directed staff to begin a recruitment process to fill one vacancy on the Planning Commission and reappointed Commissioner Chris Tavarez to a second term ending June 2025.
Other: The Council will be grouped in sub-committees for the initial interviews of the candidates.
Commissioner Adam Peck will assist as a subcommittee, member to adhere to Brown Act requirements. Each group will be in a separate room. The Council will convene to a Special Meeting immediately after the subcommittee interviews. The top candidates from the subcommittee selections will interview with the entire City Council.
Alternatives: To not appoint and readvertise.
