Steps to remove a Valley oak: Account No. 3790-44211
1. Fill out an Oak Tree Removal Application and submit to 336 N Ben Maddox Way in person or via email.
2. A city staff representative will come out, evaluate the Valley oak tree and post intent within 5 days.
3. A permit or denial letter will be sent to the property owner within 14 days.
4. If a permit was granted, one may remove the tree once one receives an approved permit.
Oak Tree Removal: Any person desiring to destroy or remove a Valley Oak Tree (Quercus lobata) on private of public property must first obtain a removal permit (Section 12.24.140). It is unlawful for any person to willfully destroy, mutilate, poison, or attempt to kill a Valley Oak Tree (Quercus lobata) within the Visalia corporated city limits. Any person violating the Oak Tree Preservation Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or by imprisonment for a period of not more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment [Section 12.24.260 (D)]
