Rounding of Fees Follow-Up
At Council’s direction staff evaluated the feasibility rounding fees.
The City maintains nearly 1,600 fees with 34% established by ordinance and an additional 18% subject to Prop 218 requirements.
Cash transactions make up 12% of overall transactions received by City departments.
Rounding creates compounding variances over time.
Discrepancies increase annually, reducing the balance between cost recovery and actual costs.
Based on the analysis, staff does not recommend
implementing a rounding policy.
