RELATIONSHIP TO CITY COUNCIL GOALS: Routine operational item not corresponding to a specific City Council goal.
PRIOR ACTION: On December 14, 2021, directed staff to post a notice of scheduled vacancies for 2022 -the Local Appointments List - with an application deadline of January 23, 2022, for incumbents to reapply to the same board, commission, or committee; a deadline of February 9, 2022, for other applicants; and a deadline of May 1, 2022, for youth applicants (Vote: 5-0).
STATEMENT ON THE SUBJECT: California Government Code Section 54972 requires that a Notice of Scheduled Vacancies on City Council appointed Commissions and Committees for the upcoming year be posted prior to December 31 each year. The Notice of Scheduled Vacancy was posted on Civic Center kiosks and the City’s website on December 15, 2022. Applications were also solicited through the City’s electronic newsletter. The deadline to submit applications was extended to March 7, 2022.
The scheduled vacancies for 2022 included two seats on the Investment Advisory Board and all seven seats of the Central Vista Business Improvement District (CVBID) Advisory Board. In accordance with Vista City Council Policy 200-06, Appointments to City Boards, Committees and Commissions, all recommendations for appointment for these seats are to be made by the Mayor.
The Mayor recommends the appointment of Brad Peterson and John Tobey to the Investment Advisory Board, with terms ending March 31, 2025.
The Mayor recommends the appointment of DeeDee Timmons, Lisa Deju, Anthony (TJ) Crossman, Traci Lawson, Will Burtner, Christine Alvarado and Terry Woods to the CVBID Advisory Board, with terms ending March 31, 2023.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no direct fiscal impact associated with the staff recommendation.
