Public land use is an important issue, especially as land becomes more scarce. On this scarce land, adequate housing must be built. It is imperative that the city council have a plan for providing the citizens with open space. As density increases, home size is or will decrease, so it is extremely important that we have open space for citizens to enjoy the outdoors, play, and exercise. This includes space for dogs to run and play.

I think the empty, city -owned lot on the comer of Michigan and Vista Village Dr. is a great spot for a dog park (and playground). Its already city owned, has nice trees, and will draw people to the downtown area I think the decision to make that a packing lot was done in haste and should be reconsidered.

It would be nice if dog parks had individual dog runs separated by 3.5' fencing (like swimming lanes of a pool). Using the dog run style would allow these dog exercise areas to fit into smaller areas. And with a little extra spent on nicely designed fencing and lighting, they can be art pieces as well.

Thank you for considering my input.
