DISCUSSION
D1. CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP TIMES (CC)
Deputy Mayor Contreras introduced the item.
Member of the public Holly Herring voiced her opinion.
City Council Members and staff discussed the following:
• The current Workshop time of 2:00 p.m. isn’t convenient for working citizens to come to a meeting • Consider changing the Workshops to 6:00 pm on the first Thursday of the month • Evening times aren’t convenient for seniors who don’t want to drive in the dark or take public transportation; much of the City’s population are senior citizens • Hybrid meetings (that allow community members to participate in person or remotely) would make it easier for individuals to participate
• Staff will bring back an ordinance changing the Workshop meeting date and time as directed by City Council; the proposed change would not be in place by the time of the March workshop so that meeting will remain at 2:00 pm on the first Tuesday of the month
DISCUSSED THE START TIME FOR CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOPS. MOTION BY CONTRERAS, SECOND BY O’DONNELL, TO DIRECT STAFF TO BRING
BACK AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE DAY AND TIME OF THE WORKSHOP MEETINGS TO THE FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH AT 6:00 PM.
