PRIOR ACTION: On December 13, 2016, introduced and adopted Ordinance No. 2016-20, amending Chapter 18.54 of the Development Code regarding off-street parking and loading requirements (Vote: 5-0).
STATEMENT ON THE SUBJECT: Councilmember Green requested the City Manager place a discussion item on an upcoming agenda to discuss the requirement for a two-car garage with the development of new single-family homes.
Development Code Section 18.54.050 establishes parking requirements for various land uses within the City. As referenced in this section, new single-family homes (defined as “one-family dwellings”) require “two covered and enclosed parking spaces in a garage for each dwelling unit, plus two open guest parking spaces. Guest spaces may be located in the driveway provided it is not shared with other units.” FISCAL IMPACT: There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this discussion item.
