On November 14, 2023, adopted City Council Resolution No. 2023-188, amending the contract with Next Practice Partners, LLC to include additional site-specific plans (Vote: 5-0).

On May 23, 2023, City Council made a motion to not approve the award of contract (and related budget amendment) as presented and directed staff to bring the item back at a future meeting for further discussion (Vote: 4-1, Contreras opposed).

STATEMENT ON THE SUBJECT: In 2023, the City selected Next Practice Partners, LLC (Next Practice Partners) to develop a comprehensive citywide Parks & Recreation Master Plan, along with site-specific plans for four parks: Brengle Terrace Park, the courthouse site on Breeze Hill Road, the Matagual Drive site located at the corner of Matagual and Hacienda Drives, and the Paseo Buena Vista site off of East Vista Way.

Additionally in March of this year, Aquatic Design Group was chosen to conduct a needs assessment study of the Wave Waterpark. To streamline community engagement and avoid survey fatigue, Aquatic Design Group is collaborating with Next Practice Partners to gather public input, leveraging the outreach efforts already underway for the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
