August Slivnik thanked City Councilmembers and staff for their efforts to encourage community engagement for the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.

Carol Jefferies asked for improvements to the City’s skatepark facilities.

The City Council and staff discussed the following:
• Depreciation costs are built into the Wave Waterpark budget but not to the extent needed.

A future discussion item on the Wave Waterpark will be scheduled. • Only existing parks were included in the presented data. Future site-specific park surveys will be sent out to residents later on in the planning process. • One way to “activate” a park is through safety measures. Park safety measures include (but are not limited to): security cameras, staff on site, visibility of the park, location of bathrooms, lighting in the park and parking areas.
• More baseball fields needed.
• Request for social media campaign to highlight existing hiking trails. • Based on needs assessment, additional solar lighting may be needed at park locations.
