ST
ATEMENT ON THE SUBJECT: In 1994, the City of Vista and the Vista Unified School District (VUSD) entered into an agreement to build, own, and operate a shared fueling station at the City’s Public Works (PW) yard at 1165 East Taylor Street. VUSD’s Transportation yard is adjacent to the PW yar d and both facilities are used to house, maintain, and repair vehicles. The location and proximity of the two sites make it mutually beneficial to share a fueling station. The City and VUSD equally share costs related to permitting, inspections, maintenance and repair, and capital replacement. Fuel usage is tracked, and each party is responsible for its respective share of the costs.
The c
urrent agreement expires on January 31, 2026. Staff requests the approval of a new agreement to comply with VUSD Education Code requirements, which mandate board approval every five years. The new agreement sets an initial three-year term with optional 24-month extension, for a total possible term of five years.
