GOVERNMENTS
RECOMMENDATION: Discuss the City Council’s appointments to the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and provide direction to staff.

PRIOR ACTION: On December 9, 2025, adopted City Council Resolution No. 2025-215, appointing a representative and first and second alternate representatives to the Board of Directors of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) (Vote: 4-1, Franklin opposed).

STATEMENT ON THE SUBJECT: On December 9, 2025, the City Council appointed Councilmember Melendez as Vista’s SANDAG Representative, Deputy Mayor O’Donnell as the first alternate, and Councilmember Fox as the second alternate, effective January 1, 2026.

Councilmember Contreras requested the City Manager place a discussion item on an upcoming agenda to discuss these appointments.

FISCAL IMPACT: There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this discussion item.
