UBJECT: STOP SIGN ON ALTA VISTA TERRACE AT ALTA VISTA DRIVE RECOMMENDATION: Adopt City Council Resolution No. 2026- , establishing a one-way stop control at the intersection of Alta Vista Drive and Alta Vista Terrace to control traffic from Alta Vista Terrace.
CORRELATION TO CITY COUNCIL GOALS: Traffic: Continue to enhance mobility safety, improve the flow of traffic for all forms of travel, reduce congestion, and improve our roads and sidewalks.

RIOR TRAFFIC COMMISSION ACTION: On August 5, 2026, recommended establishing a one-way stop control at the intersection of Alta Vista Drive and Alta Vista Terrace to control traffic from Alta Vista Terrace (Vote: 6-1, Vielma Opposed).
STATEMENT ON THE SUBJECT: The City received a request to review traffic control at the intersection of Alta Vista Drive and Alta Vista Terrace. Staff conducted an all-way stop evaluation of the intersection using criteria such as traffic volumes, pedestrians, accident history, sight distance and other conditions. Please see Exhibit 2 for the all-way stop evaluation. Staff determined that the intersection did not meet the criteria for installation of an all-way stop intersection control at Alta Vista Drive and Alta Vista Terrace.

acent properties have been notified that this proposal will be on the September 22, 2026 City Council meeting agenda. Exhibits 4 and 5 contain a map of notified properties and the notice sent to the properties.

SCAL IMPACT: The cost of installing one stop sign is approximately $400. Sufficient funding is available in the Fiscal Year 2026/27 Operating Budget in the Gas Tax Street Maintenance Special Department Expense Traffic Sign Supplies account (no. 1060410.531500.00090).
