Meeting minutes were approved by the City Council at the regular meeting held on March 4, 2025.
1. OPENING
Councilmember Silva was absent as she was attending a
n Executive Committee
Board of Directors
meeting of the League of California Cities. All other Councilmembers were in attendance.
2. 2025 STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS
Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Chair Elect Caitlin Sly moderated a conversation with Mayor Darling. A series of questions were asked of Mayor Darling that covered a range of topics relevant to the future and well-being of Walnut Creek, providing insights into the City’s vision, priorities and plans for the future.
3. PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS
Mayor Darling reported that public comments at special meetings are limited to subjects on the agenda only. No public comments were received.
4. ADJOURNMENT OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
****Note: This meeting was not the typical format for a City Council meeting. The meeting notice (agenda) was posted as a quorum of City Councilmembers were expected to attend the Future of Walnut Creek (State of the City). The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Walnut Creek host the annual State of the City address. On April 18, 2024, California’s Attorney General issued an opinion about the State of the City addresses. If a majority of the City Council attends such events, even when hosted by private organizations, they are subject to the Brown Act.**** ________________________________________
