Council Work Session Minutes
The City Council held a Work Session at City Hall 550 Main Street, Weed, CA 96094 on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 5:00 pm. Tentative topics include:
• Presentation: Tonya Dowse, Executive Director of the Siskiyou Economic Development Council. • Public Safety – By Motion –Council will consider the second reading and adoption of Ordinance No. 472-2023 amending the WMC regarding Administrative Fines and Penalties. • Fire – by Motion – the Council will consider approval of Resolution No. 04-2024 adopting budget adjustments for the Weed Volunteer Fire Department.
• Administration – by Motion - the Council will consider approval of Resolution No. 05-2024 adopting budget adjustments for the Senior Meals/Nutrition and Capital Outlay. • Economic Development – by Motion – the Council will consider approval of Resolution No. 06- 2024 approving the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Weed and the Siskiyou County Economic Development Council for Fiscal Years 2024-2029. • Public Safety – by Motion – Council will consider approving 2024 Weed Police Departments Military Equipment Use Policy Report.
• Administration – by Motion – the Council will consider approval of Resolution No. 07-2024 approving a city match to qualified 457(b) plans for all represented and non- represented employees.
• By Motion - Approve City Council Minutes for Work Session, and Regular Meeting Minutes from 1/11/2024.
• By Motion - Approve payment warrants dated 01/09/2024 through 01/24/2024 including any voided warrants totaling $341,392.56.
• By Motion – Approve and file month end report for January 2024. • Human Resources– by Motion –Council Consider approval of Resolution No. 08-2024 a Resolution of Intention to enter into an amended contract with CalPERS to provide a $5,000 retired death benefit.
• Human Resources – By Motion –Council will consider the introduction and first reading of Ordinance No. 473-2024 authorizing an amendment to the contract between the City and the Board of Administration of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System All items were discussed in an open forum. Council Members’ questions were asked and answered. ________________________________
