SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 10, 2024
The City Council of the City of Weed held a special meeting on Thursday October 10, 2024, at 5:04pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Mayor Darrell Parham called the meeting to order and led recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Present, in addition to Mayor Parham, were Council Members Mark Mazzoni, Ken Palfini, and Susan Tavalero. Also present were Interim City Manager Steve Baker, City Attorney David Ruderman, City Clerk Sandra Duchi, Finance Director Jill Porterfield, Sergeant Jared Klomparens, Acting Public Works Director Chris Davis, and Fire Chief Steve Duncan.
Council Member Palfini moved to excuse Council Member Hall. Council Member Tavalero seconded the motion, and the vote was:
AYES: Council Member Mazzoni, Palfini, Parham, and Tavalero NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Hall
Council Member Hall was absent during roll call but arrived at 5:25pm
PUBLIC COMMENT
There was none.
ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION
Mayor Parham announced a conflict of interest and recused himself from the closed session.
Council Adjourned to closed session at 5:05pm.
CLOSED SESSION
A. Conference With Legal Counsel; Anticipated Litigation (Gov. Code § 54956.9(d)(4)) Number of Cases: 1.
Council Member Tavalero moved to adjourn to open session at 5:42pm. Council Member Palfini seconded the motion, and the vote was:
AYES: Council Member Hall, Mazzoni, Palfini, and Tavalero NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: Council Member Parham
City Attorney Ruderman announced in open session The Council provided direction to initiate an action and that the action, the defendants, and the other particulars shall, once formally commenced, be disclosed to any person upon inquiry, unless to do so would jeopardize the agency's ability to effectuate service of process on one or more unserved parties.
