Staff Recommends: City Council Approve Resolution No. 38-2026 awarding the Main Street Demolition Project to Eddie Axner Construction in the amount of $748,983.20 Summary: On August 19, 2026, bids were received up to 3:00 PM. Bids were opened according to California law, and it was determined that Eddie Axner Construction, Inc. presented the most competitive bid. . All bids were reviewed for completeness by PACE Engineering. The City Attorneys office reviewed PACE Engineering's recommendations as well as the bid from Eddie Axner Construction, Inc. It was determined Eddie Axner Construction Inc presented the most competent bid. All bids received are as follows:
Eddie Axner Construction, Inc.: $748,983.20
Mike Peters Inc.: $839,260.00
Bowen Engineering: $853,500.00

RESOLUTION NO. 38-2026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEED TO AWARD A
CONTRACT FOR THE MAIN STREET DEMOLITION PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Council authorized the City Engineer to solicit bids for the Main Street Demolition Project; and
WHEREAS, the bids were advertised and opened pursuant to California law; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer, and City Attorney, after reviewing such bids, has determined that Eddie Axner Construction, Inc. has submitted the most competent bid and, thus recommends that a contract to complete such project be awarded to Eddie Axner Construction, WHEREAS, Council finds good cause to accept the recommendation of the City Engineer and City Attorney,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Weed:
SECTION 1: That Eddie Axner Construction, Inc. is hereby awarded a contract to perform and complete the Main Street Demolition Project in the amount of $748,983.20.
SECTION 2: A copy of the bid summary is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Eddie Axner Construction, Inc., pending legal review of contract, for the project.
I HEREBY CERTIFY the foregoing resolution was introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Weed held the 3rd day of September 2026 by the following vote to wit:

Subject: MAIN STREET DEMOLITION PROJECT
The bid opening for the subject project was held on August 19, 2026. PACE Engineering, Inc. (PACE) has reviewed the bids received, and enclosed is the Bid Summary.
The low bidder on the project was Eddie Aner Construction, Inc with a total bid amount of $748,983.20. PACE has examined the low bidder's proposal and finds it to be correct and acceptable. Therefore, it is recommended that the City of Weed award the Contract to Eddie Axner Construction, Inc.
Once PACE is notified that the Contract has been awarded, a Notice of Award will be sent to the Contractor together with the Agreement and Bond forms. Instructions will be included for the Contractor to sign and complete the necessary documents and return them to PACE for review.
PACE will then forward them to the City for signature, which will constitute execution of the Contract.
