CALL TO ORDER - REGULAR SESSION
The Whittier City Council met in Special Session on October 25, 2022. Mayor Vinatieri called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. in the Admin Conference Room of Whittier City Hall, 13230 Penn Street, Whittier, California.

Jessica Martinez, Mayor Pro Tern
Fernando Dutra, Council Member
Cathy Warner, Council Member

3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited at the Regular Meeting.
4. PUBLIC COMMENTS

5. STAFF REPORTS
5.A. Board and Commission Interviews and Appointments
Recommendation:
1) Interview selected Cultural Arts Commission and Historic Resources Commission applicants;
2) Appoint one member to the Cultural Arts Commission; and 3) Appoint two members to the Historic Resources Commission.
The City Council interviewed the following individuals and deliberated on appointments:
1) Cultural Arts Commission: Varun Gandhi, James Mericle, and Susan Hunter Eiden.
2) Historic Resources Commission: Ken Hesse, Susan Cameron, Vanessa Ortiz, and George Montano

CONSENSUS
By consensus, the City Council appointed Susan Hunter Eiden to the partial oneyear vacancy on the Cultural Arts Commission and Vanessa Ortiz to the partial two-year vacancy on the Historic Resources Commission.
MOTION
Council Member Dutra moved and Council Member Warner seconded a motion to appoint Susan Cameron to the full-term vacancy on the Historic Resources Commission. The question was called and the motion failed 2-2-1, Mayor Pro tem Martinez and Council Member dissenting, and Mayor Vinatieri abstaining.
MOTION
Mayor Pro Tern Martinez moved and Council Member Martinez seconded a motion to appoint George Montano to the full term vacancy on the Historic Resources Commission. The question was called and the motion failed 2-2-1, Council Members Dutra and Warner dissenting, and Mayor Vinatieri abstaining.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Vinatieri adjourned the meeting at 5:45 p.m.
