Parking
Council's comments included: the need for parking enforcement on Town lots; parking enforcement on private lots would be difficult; having consistency Town-wide in the commercial center would be useful to the public; interest in creating parking along Woodside Road; a suggestion to incentivize bicyclists to park elsewhere; parking expansion is critical; fear of losing current Town Center services (e.g, Robert's Market); no support for an off-site parking lot for employees.
Mr. Reinhalter summarized what he heard.
Aaron Aknin, Good City Company, added that to increase turnover of parking spaces, time limits and focusing enforcement on the most popular spaces can be utilized.
Land Use
Council's comments included: housing is the reason for this exercise; interest in the CAC coming up with a recommendation (e.g,, ballot measure to increase the height limit); support for augmenting the commercial uses in Town by making it easier for businesses to inhabit retail spaces (e.g., updating the Woodside Municipal Code); encouragement to keep developing creative options.
In response to Council's question about property owner buy-in, Mr. Reinhalter stated: some current landowners are open to townhomes; there won't be a wholesale change; the purpose of the exercise is not to calibrate for the present but rather set the Town up for success for the next Housing cycle.
Mr. Aknin spoke of property turnover, zoning laws, and market cycles over a 20-year span that this Town Center Area Plan could be prepared for.
Mr. Reinhalter plans to collect input from the CAC regarding the vision for Town Hall.
Public Spaces
Council's comments included: no interest in a Farmer's Market; outdoor dining is sorely missed; interest in a designated gathering space (e.g, concerts, speaker series, park); there is desire for landscaping and beautification from the community; parking is closely entwined with any community space.
