2. Exhibit A - Resolution No 2025-5934.pdf
Community Development Director Nate Farnsworth shared before and after abatement photos, highlighting the condition of the property. He said at the February 18th Council meeting, Council declared the property a public nuisance, which gave the property owner 30 days to take action. The property owner did not abate the nuisance conditions, and as a result, City staff contracted the services of a landscape company to remove all of the overgrown vegetation for a total cost of approximately $1,240. With respect to expediting enforcement in the future, he said staff added this property to the City's Annual Weed Abatement Program so its conditions will be evaluated annually versus waiting for complaints for residents to be received. Additionally, he said that staff has made updates to the Code Enforcement Manual that allows staff to utilize an expedited process with repeat violators.
Pat Nelson, resident, said she believes that the once-a-year abatement will be enough.
A conversation ensued among Council and staff regarding forgiving liens, foreclosure and the impacts of a government lien on a property if it goes for public auction.
