Janet, resident, raised concerns about the safety of cell towers at Veterans Park.

Andrea Coleman, resident, also spoke about cell phone towers and potential health risks.

Pat Nelson, resident, spoke on Consent Calendar Item No. 9 and recent rains, asking how the City fared during the storm. She also requested an update on the car wash property at Imperial Highway and Los Angeles Street, noting it has been fenced for several months without visible activity.

John DeLap, resident, spoke in opposition to the proposed City Ventures project, citing safety and traffic concerns.

Nancy Pfeifer, resident, also opposed the project, raising concerns about equestrian riders, the trails and the lack of capacity for additional traffic.

Mayor Rodriguez responded to the concerns raised by Janet and Andrea, noting that many of the issues fall outside the City’s jurisdiction. He explained that cell towers are regulated at the federal level but stated that the City maintains relationships with County, State, and Federal agencies that can provide additional information. He added that City staff can assist in coordinating appropriate responses.

City Manager Peter Grant noted that both residents provided contact information and that staff will follow up in the coming days regarding how the City can assist with their concerns. City Attorney Litfin added that cell towers are subject to federal emission standards and, if those standards are met, federal law preempts the City from prohibiting the towers on that basis.
