Interests & Experiences
Do you currently live in Yountville? Yes
Are you a Yountville Business Owner? No
Are you registered to vote in Yountville? Yes
Why do you want to serve on this Board, Commission, or Committee? I think that one of the more pressing issues facing California today is providing more affordable housing for it's residents. The State has required all municipalities to do their part to alleviate this. Finding funding is a major issue in this quest. Yountville, by passing Measure S, has provided for an ongoing source of funds to assist us in doing our part to help in resolving this problem.

What do you perceive is the role of this Board, Commission, or Committee? The Committee's role is to: A. Monitor and report to the Town Council on the revenues generated by Measure S B. To help ensure that projects and appropriations made by Council are for eligible affordable and/or workforce housing, C. Most importantly, are projects and appropriations the best use of the these monies that are consistent with the restrictions on their use.

How would you represent the interests of the community? I've lived in Yountville for seven years. I'm one of 20 plus volunteers (mostly Yountville residents) at the Welcome Center. I'm an Ambassador for and on the Board of the Yountville Chamber of Commerce. I am a veteran and have volunteered at the Veteran's Home. Rita and I get out a lot and have met many the staff at the tasting rooms and restaurants in town. I believe that gives me a good base of folks to talk to and, more importantly, listen to our residents hopes and concerns related to housing and the town's future.

What strengths/expertise/special skills would you bring to the Board, Commission, or Committee?
I have spent most of my life working for cities and counties as an auditor, a consultant or the governments chief financial officer. I understand how democracy works.

Preparing annual budgets requires knowing how to work with various with competing interests and concerns to achieve consensus on a final plan that can be adopted by the governing body. The amount of and placement of affordable and workforce housing has proved to be very contentious. I believe the knowledge and skills I have acquired over the years could be very valuable as Yountville moves forward on these issues.

Please describe your previous community service and volunteer experience.

I've mentioned several above, but I'm also on the Yountville Goodwill Coalition. I'm on the Board of the Bocce Club and the Friends of the Yountville Library. In previous lives, I was a member of the Fifth Connecticut Regiment (a revolutionary war reenactment group) and a Docent at the Keeler Tavern Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

Anything else you would like to tell us?
I love this town. Moving here was one of the best decisions we've ever made. I will do anything I can to keep it as just a little piece of heaven.

Name, Addresses and Phone numbers of three (3) individuals familiar with your background (Please do not use council members as references).
