RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution Number 23-4242 as a Resolution of Support for the Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) Vision Zero Plan.
DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND
The NVTA adopted a Vision Zero plan at their October 18, 2023 Board Meeting. Vision Zero is a transportation system strategy to eliminate fatal and severe injury crashes on roadways. To advance the goal of improving roadway safety for all transportation modes countywide, to align with regional and national best practices, and to support the requirement under multiple grant funding programs, NVTA with the assistance of its consultant, Fehr & Peers, developed a Countywide Vision Zero Plan. This data-driven and community-focused effort complemented recently completed Local Roadway Safety Plans (LRSP) by the County and Cities of Napa and American Canyon.
With the adoption of this Vision Zero Plan and Resolution, NVTA staff will begin coordination with member agencies to institutionalize the safety strategies identified in the plan.
NVTA is asking each of its member jurisdictions for a local resolution of support. This resolution is only for support of NVTA’s plan, the Town of Yountville is not adopting the plan itself. Visit the NVTA website to learn more about the Vision Zero Plan.
Staff recommends that the Town Council approve the resolution in support of the NVTA’s vision zero plan.
