RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution 24-4259 Dedicating "The Future of the World is in Our Hands" sculpture to Jennifer Kaneshiro Carvalho, Long Time Town Employee and Yountville Resident
DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND
Pending the Town Council approving the previous item, accepting the sculpture “The Future of the World is in Our Hands” as a donation from the artist for become a Town owned and permanent sculpture on the Art Walk, this item will request approval of dedicating the sculpture to long time Town Employee and Yountville Resident Jennifer Carvalho.
A group of residents has applied to dedicate this sculpture to Jennifer in her retirement as an ongoing testament to Jennifer’s dedication and impact on the community of Yountville over her 36+ year career with the Town and lifetime of dedication as a resident and volunteer.
Jennifer was born and raised in Yountville. Her career with the Town began early and continued into a life of public service. Jennifer held many roles within the town’s Parks and Recreation Department starting at the Community Pool and ending as a Recreation Supervisor with her retirement in February of 2024. Jennifer is also a very prominent Town volunteer including with Yountville Kiwanis, Yountville Little League and the Native Daughters of the Golden West among others.
The resident group has fundraised to provide a dedication plaque at the sculpture. The Town will support with installation of the plaque and ongoing maintenance.
The Yountville Arts Commission considered this item at the April 1, 2024 meeting and unanimously approved the dedication of the sculpture to Jennifer Kaneshiro Carvalho.
