PROCLAMATION
Library Appreciation
WHEREAS, libraries serve as essential pillars of communities, offering accessible resources and fostering connection and inclusion among all members; and, WHEREAS, Library Appreciation Week was celebrated April 7-13, 2024, with the theme "Ready, Set, Library" which encapsulates the spirit of our library, showcasing its readiness to serve and empower individuals to explore, learn, and grow; and WHEREAS, the Town of Yountville provides space for our library in the Yountville Community Center. The Town’s Parks & Recreation Department staff work in partnership with library workers to provide a reliable source of information and entertainment that satisfies a variety of interests; and
WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Yountville Library staff extended their support to hundreds of residents across the County by facilitating access to online library resources, addressing inquiries, assisting with vaccine registrations, and offering guidance to individuals affected by the 2020 fires; and
WHEREAS, the library offers a diverse array of programs and services, from book clubs to lectures, catering to the varied interests and needs of our community; and WHEREAS, adapting to the changing needs of the public, libraries are expanding their resources and continuing to meet the needs of their patrons, including offering internet connectivity for students and workers who have limited or no broadband access elsewhere.
NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, that I, Margie Mohler, Mayor of the Town of Yountville, along with the Town Council, proclaim and recognize the importance of our library and its crucial role in the community. Residents are encouraged to visit the Yountville Library and enjoy the resources and services offered online and in person.
