A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF YOUNTVILLE APPROVING THE
YOUNTVILLE LEGACY TRAIL PROJECT AND AUTHORING THE TOWN MANAGER TO WORK WITH DONORS, STAFF AND THE ARTS COMMISSION TO MOVE THE PROJECT FORWARD.
Recitals
A. The Town is preparing to celebrate its 60th Anniversary on February 4, 2025, and the Town Council created two Ad-Hoc committees to recognize the history of the Town and to plan for a celebration.
B. The Yountville Legacy Trail is intended to begin a tradition of recognizing pioneers and meaningful figures in the history of Yountville and will complement the existing art walk by developing standards and protocols.
C. With the acceptance of the George C. Yount sculpture donation offer from Rob Orr, the concept of the Yountville Legacy Trail was created and will include others who have shared Yountville into the community that it is today.
D. The initial phase of the Trail will include the George C. Yount sculpture as well as sculptures of Sally Schmitt and Frances Solis “Pancha”.
E. On September 9, 2024 the Yountville Arts Commission unanimously approved the Yountville Legacy Trail Program moving it forward to the Town Council for final approval.
Now, therefore, the Town Council of the Town of Yountville, California, does resolve as follows:
A. Authorizes the Town Manager to work with staff, future donors, and the Arts Commission to create the Yountville Legacy Trail.
B. Authorizes the Town Manager to formally accept the donation of the George C. Yount sculpture by artist Don Budy and enter into a donation agreement with Rob Orr.
C. The Resolution is hereby adopted and becomes effective and in full force immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Yountville, State of California, held on this 17th day of September, 2024 by the following vote:
