Why do you want to serve on this Board, Commission, or Committee? I am very interested in supporting Arts in our community. The mission of the Arts Commission fits my interest for engaging the community and beyond to bring art and interactions with important artists. I would much like to be part of an organization that is so focused on their community, I have attended many Arts Commission events and have always wanted to be part of the program. By being a commissioner, I will have more opportunity to actively support living with art in our community.

What do you perceive is the role of this Board, Commission, or Committee? .

How would you represent the interests of the community? .

What strengths/expertise/special skills would you bring to the Board, Commission, or Committee?
I am known as an effective and clear communicator and am a very keen listener. I readily take ideas forward for operational consideration. I am very organized and can manage complex projects easily. I prefer complex and complicated projects.Once I know the goal, I can talk to anyone and everyone about it. I am able to identify and design measurements to determine the success of the event to be used for future planning. I have many business and winery contacts with whom I have contacted to support local events.

Please describe your previous community service and volunteer experience.

I am Board Member of the Napa Valley Museum (NVMY) for the past 8 years and am the Board Secretary since 2022. I have been co-chair of the NVMY Board fundraiser that raised $100,000 for the Museum. I am captain of the Napa Valley Country Club nine-hole ladies golf group since 2017. And, yes, I leading and communicating with the ladies while I was still employed and addressed them from someplace in the world. It included weekly communications and a quarterly newsletter column. I have also served on the Napa Valley Country Club's Finance and Long Term Planning committee for 2 years. I was Chairperson of the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors Mental Health Commission for 3 years. I was also a member of the Los Angeles American Lung Association Research Committee for 4 years. I have been President of the Western Association of Nurse Researchers for 2 years. I designed and successfully managed 2 UCLA National Nursing Research Conferences.

Anything else you would like to tell us?
We relocated from Los Angeles to Napa in 2002. But I was working full time and traveling around the world for work and was gone 3 out of 4 weeks for about 20 years.

Since I am retired for 4.5 years, I have time to be involved in my community, which I consider all of Napa Valley. I have 2 master's degrees and a PhD with a focus on research design measurement. I am a data person. I have co-designed an international quality improvement program that has been taught around the world and is still being taught and used. Before becoming an International Health Care Consultant for oldest and most recognized accrediting body in US and Internationally, I was Director of Nursing Research and Education at UCLA Medical Center for 10 years and prior to that I was a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatry for the Sepulveda Veterans' Administration Hospital. My bosses always said, if you want it done, assign it to Linda. If it does not matter, give it to anyone. I have been recognized as a leader and effective and considerate staff and board member. Relating to the arts, I am a fan and collector of various art mediums throughout my life. We have a major contemporary turned wood collection with over 100 pieces and an important contemporary blown glasses collection of the major artists in both mediums.
