Re: Tree Removal at Corner of Humbolt Street and Jefferson Street Per direction from our client, we reviewed the existing trees to determine their current health and their feasibility to exist with the proposed construction. Due to several factors, I feel that replacing the existing trees will result in a better long-term project. • The installation of the required sidewalks will damage the root structure. • The trees along Jefferson are low branching and would need to be pruned up for pedestrian access along the sidewalks.
• The existing trees drop fruit which is messy and can be a slipping hazard. • New trees can be planted with root barriers to reduce issues with the proposed sidewalks.

For these reasons, we are recommending replacing the trees with a better suited tree in regard to size and location.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Kevin C. Leamy, ASLA
President
