I'm unable to attend the upcoming meeting because I have to be in San Francisco, but I would like to understand why residents were not properly notified in advance of the power shutoff that occurred on Thursday, July 10th.
I often work on my computer late at night into the wee hours and was dismayed when I lost power at 10:27 pm, just as I began work. While I was able to use my mobile phone as a hotspot so I could access the internet (a necessity for my work) and run my laptop on battery, I was unable to use my large, external monitor, a necessity since my laptop screen is tiny. As a result, I was unable to work the necessary amount of hours.
Had I known in advance that we would lose power, I could have arranged my schedule accordingly.
Certainly someone at PG&E must know well in advance that residents will lose power for hours. How can residents receive notification in a timely manner? I fear this happening again as work on Washington Street continues this summer.
Thank you,
Kelly E. Carter
