RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution Number 25-4380 reaffirming the naming of the kitchen at the Community Center after Barbara Dulinsky and naming the redesigned barbecue and outdoor kitchen “Bud’s Barbecue” after Bud Dulinsky.
DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND
In 2005, the Town Council approved Resolution Number 2340-05 naming the kitchen at the Community Hall “Barbara’s Kitchen” after longtime Yountville resident, business owner and community organizer and philanthropist, Barbara Dulinsky. Before the Town Council this evening there is a Resolution to reaffirm Barbara’s Kitchen and approve naming of the redesigned outdoor kitchen and barbecue on the Community Center patio Bud’s Kitchen after Barbara’s husband, Bud.
The Dulinsky’s moved to Yountville in 1950. During their time in Yountville, they owned the Cash and Carry Market and were integral in the incorporation of the Town. Bud was appointed to the founding Council and served in 1965. Bud served our country in the US Army, was a Volunteer Firefighter and was a Native Son of the Golden West as well as a Board Member of the George C. Yount Cemetery Association. After his time on the Council, Bud stayed connected to the Town and was a member of the Community Hall Commission that guided the use of the Community Hall as well as participated in the long process working towards the construction of the Community Center facility, that we all enjoy today.
As the Town finalizes the renovation of the outdoor kitchen and barbecue area at the Community Center, staff recommend naming the barbecue area as Bud’s Barbecue and reaffirm the Community Hall kitchen as Barbara’s Kitchen.
If approved, staff plan to design and install additional signage onto the barbecue area as well as install new signage on the kitchen indoor and outdoor entrances. Staff will also hang photographs of Bud and Barbara inside the Community Hall along with a small storyboard that will share the story of Bud and Barbara’s connection to the Community Hall and the Town.
