RE: Project Endorsement - Yountville Commons - Phase 1
Generation Housing is proud to endorse the Yountville Commons - Phase 1 affordable workforce housing project proposed by the Town of Yountville on Yount Street in downtown Yountville. This planned development will advance the Town’s adopted housing goals while expanding access to deeply affordable homes for local workers and families close to jobs, services, and community amenities Yountville Commons - Phase 1 is envisioned to deliver affordable workforce rental homes on publicly owned land that was acquired specifically for this purpose. The project team is refining the final unit count, bedroom mix, and affordability levels, with a current concept that includes deeply affordable units targeted around 60% of Area Median Income, supported primarily through local Transient Occupancy Tax revenues rather than more restrictive outside funding sources.
Generation Housing has awarded Yountville Commons - Phase 1 our highest level of support based on our endorsement criteria, reflecting:
➢ Creation of deeply affordable workforce homes that allow people who work in and contribute to Yountville to live closer to their jobs, schools, and community networks.
➢ Strategic use of public land and locally generated hotel tax revenues (TOT) to deliver long-term affordable housing, maximizing the public benefit of prior land and funding decisions.
➢ A highly walkable, infill location in downtown Yountville, with proximity to transit, parks and recreation, health services, and everyday amenities. ➢ Walkable access to transit, grocery stores, parks, and a nearby elementary school
➢ Located in a moderate to high-resource area, offering residents strong connections to opportunity, services, and community life.
Yountville Commons - Phase 1 demonstrates how well-designed, locally funded infill housing can integrate new homes into an existing neighborhood while ensuring that the people who power Yountville’s economy and civic life have a stable, affordable place to call home. We encourage the Town of Yountville and its community members, partners, and decision-makers to support this important project.
