Why do you want to serve on this Board, Commission, or Committee? I have served on the Yountville Art Commission since it started as a Committee in 2009.
Seeing the growth and appreciation of the community members has been a great reward. I love this Town and enjoy bringing new and interesting art related programs to our community.
How would you approach the volunteer position representing the community's interests?
To me, Community as always first. We work to engage our residents and present well meaning programs to the public. During my tenure I have helped create and develop programs such as 'Find Your Heart in Yountville, new Mustard Celebration events each year, various artists in the Steve Rogers Gallery and have been Chair of the Yountville Public Art Walk for about 4 years. As we proceed, another year, I will always have our community's best interests at the forefront. Of late, the Town's focus has pivoted to a more aggressive method of drawing visitors to Yountville. As such, we must all keep in tune with the people who live here.
What strengths/expertise/special skills would you bring to the Board, Commission, or Committee?
My education and degree is in Industrial Design with minors in Art History and business.
I've worked privately for individuals, at Advertising Agencies and ran my own consulting firm for about 5 years. I am also a former retail art gallery owner, 23 years in Yountville.
I still consult thought my business being mostly American Art Glass, the demand is no longer what it used to be.
Please describe your previous community service and volunteer experience.
I was a Napa Valley Museum Board member and President of the Museum for 5 years Anything else you would like to tell us?
It is a pleasure to work for the Town of Yountville. Samantha and now Katelyn take good care of us and make sure we are functioning properly as a Commission. I always feel privileged to be a part of our vibrant community and am proud of our contribution to both Community and Visitors. The current Arts Commission has six other very smart and talented Arts Commissioners who work hard and produce results. It's a pleasure to work with them and be a part of the Commission.
