RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution Number 26-4423 approving the use of General Fund Assigned for Budget and Legal Contingencies in the amount of $70,000 for General Town Attorney Services in Fiscal Year 2025/2026 and approving a corresponding budget adjustment to Town Attorney Contract Services.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND
Staff have performed a budget analysis for General Fund expenditures and identified that the cost of Town Attorney services for Fiscal Year 2025/2026 will end up being more than anticipated due to additional support provided to the Town.

On May 20, 2025, via Resolution Number 25-4361, the Town Council approved an original budget of $325,000 for general Town Attorney Services for Fiscal Year 2025/2026. Based on information received from the Town Attorney, staff are estimating a total cost of $395,000 which is more than the currently approved budget.

Staff recommend that Town Council approve the use of General Fund Assigned for Budget and Legal Contingencies in the amount of $70,000 to cover the additional cost, and a corresponding budget adjustment of $70,000 to increase the 01-1105-4210 Town Attorney Contract Services budget to a total of $395,000.

The current balance of General Fund Assigned for Budget and Legal Contingencies is $357,053 and approval of this requested $70,000 would leave $287,053 available for the remainder of the current fiscal year.
