MEASURE Y
Argument in Favor of Measure Y
The California Constitution requires that we ask voters for permission to spend tax revenues above a pre-determined limit, even when those tax revenues have previously been approved. In 2003 Yountville voters approved a transient occupancy tax (TOT) paid by visitors to the Town's hotel lodging. TOT and sales tax revenue fund the Town's general services including law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services, parks and recreation programming, streets, sidewalks, Yountville Bee Bus, flood and drainage projects, and the Town's Capital Improvement Program among others.
Measure Y only authorizes the Town of Yountville to continue using already collected tax dollars to continue funding these services. Yountville voters have approved a similar measure every time it was placed on the ballot dating back to 1985. (2024, 2018, 2014, 2010, 2006, 2003, 1999, 1992, 1990, 1988, and 1985). This measure increases the appropriations limit by $3,000,000 plus ¼ of TOT revenues for the prior fiscal year, for each year for a four year period commencing fiscal year 2027/2028 through fiscal year 2030/2031.
This proposed measure does not increase or raise your taxes.
A YES vote on Measure Y allows the Town to continue to use these funds.
A NO vote on Measure Y requires the Town to return these funds in accordance with state law.
If this measure is not approved, the Town will lose the ability to use the already approved revenue collected from TOT and sales tax. The State requires your approval to keep these taxes in Yountville otherwise they will be redistributed in accordance with state law.
Measure Y allows the Town to continue to use these revenues (without increasing local taxes) for services which make a difference in the quality of life for all Yountville residents.
Join the Yountville Town Council in their unanimous support of Measure Y by voting YES.
