RECOMMENDATION
Discuss and appoint a voting delegate and alternate(s) to represent the Town of Yountville at the 2026 Cal Cities Annual Conference General Assembly, September 23–25, 2026, in Anaheim, California.
DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND
The League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Annual Conference and Expo will be held September 23–25, 2026, in Anaheim, California. As part of the conference, Cal Cities conducts its annual General Assembly, where member jurisdictions consider and vote on resolutions that establish Cal Cities policy and guide the organization's advocacy on behalf of California cities. Each member city is entitled to one vote during the General Assembly.
In accordance with the Cal Cities bylaws, the Town Council must designate one voting delegate and may designate up to two alternate voting delegates by formal Council action. The voting delegate and alternates may be elected or appointed officials. The voting delegate must attend the September meeting to cast their vote. If the designated voting delegate is unable to serve, one of the alternates may cast the Town's vote. The designation cannot be made administratively by the Mayor or City Manager and must be approved by the Town Council. Following Council action, the Town Clerk will submit the Town’s voting delegate information to Cal Cities by the required deadline of September 1, 2026.
Designating a voting delegate ensures the Town of Yountville is represented during the General Assembly and is able to participate in decisions that shape Cal Cities' policy positions and statewide advocacy efforts on issues affecting local governments.
