RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution Number 26-4436 authorizing the Interim Town Manager to enter into an agreement accepting the gift of the Love Wine Too sculpture from artist Richard Starks, valued at $19,500.
DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND
On occasion, the Town has received requests from Art Walk artists to accept the donation of a piece of art.
Richard Starks is an artist based in Gilroy, California, who has been displaying his art on the Yountville Art Walk since 2010. Mr. Starks has generously offered to donate to the Town, the Love Wine Too Sculpture and noted his gratitude for the long-term relationship and support of his work.
Love Wine Too is one of our most photographed sculptures currently installed along Washington Street at the Villagio Vineyard. If the Town Council accepts this donation, the Interim Town Manager will then sign and execute a donation agreement with the artist. The agreement will allow the Town and the Yountville Arts Commission to move the sculpture as it sees fit. Although the Town does not anticipate selling the sculpture, as owners, the Town could sell the sculpture in the future if it desires. The Town would be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the sculpture and moving and/or storing it if desired.
The Yountville Arts Commission plans to keep the sculpture in its current location for the time being.
