RESOLUTION NO. 25-
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YUBA CITY APPROVING THE FY 2024/25 PROPOSED BUDGET REDUCTION MEASURES AND
CORRESPONDING SERVICE MODIFICATIONS
WHEREAS, as part of the City Council’s Goal Setting Workshop, held on January 29, 2025, the Finance Director provided a financial highlight presentation on the City’s General Fund; and
WHEREAS, in FY 2023/24, the City used $2,419,364 of the $6,600,000 available in the Budget Stabilization Reserve (BSR) to balance the budget; and WHEREAS, the FY 2024/25 Adopted Budget has a deficit of $5,463,391, and with the utilization of the remaining BSR, the resulting deficit is $1,282,755; and WHEREAS, to address not only the current fiscal year deficit but to also “right size” the FY 2025/26 budget so that expenditures do not exceed revenues, staff recommends implementing reduction measures that will result in corresponding service impacts; and WHEREAS, staff have identified measures that can be implemented within a short timeframe.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Yuba City as follows:
1. The City Council of the City of Yuba City authorizes the implementation of budget reduction measures that will limit spending or increase revenues within a short timeframe.
2. The City Council of the City of Yuba City recognizes that these budget reduction measures will result in modifications to services provided to the public.
3. The City Council of the City of Yuba City supports the implementation of the budget reduction measures and corresponding modifications in services provided to the public.
The forgoing Resolution of the City Council of the City of Yuba City was duly introduced, passed and adopted at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of February 2025.
