SUBJECT: Youth Advisory Committee Appointments
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council appoint Ava Halamicek and Peyton Barger to the Youth Advisory Committee.
BACKGROUND:
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) serves as an advisory body to the City Council and the intent is to improve youth involvement in City issues, activities and provide committee members a roadmap for success.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2017-45, seven at -large appointments shall be made in odd -numbered years and six at -large appointments shall be made in even -numbered years and members shall serve two-year terms. Currently, there are nine YAC members. Seven YAC members are serving the second year of their term, and two YAC members serving the first year of their term.
DISCUSSION:
The recruitment for the six at -large YAC appointments began in August 2021 and will continue until all positions are filled. The City received applications for two of the current open positions from, new applicants, Ava Halamicek and Peyton Barger. On January 12, 2022, the Youth Advisory Committee approved the applications. Ava Halamicek and Peyton Barger are being recommended for appointments to the YAC for a two-year commitment from January 24, 2022, to September 1, 2023.
The YAC members will continue to recruit for the remaining at -large vacant positions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact as a result of this action.
