SUBJECT: 2022 Community Special Events
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council receive and file the 2022 Community Special Events Update Report.
DISCUSSION:
The Community Services Department is responsible for the planning and execution of special events for the City of Yucaipa. The goal of these events is to bring families and residents together to enjoy City parks and amenities. In addition to the Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival and the Kick the Dust Up the following free events have been planned for the upcoming spring and summer months and will be marketed in the Your Yucaipa Guide, on the City's social media and website.
Eggstravaganza
On Saturday, April 9, 2022, over 10,000 plastic eggs will be scattered throughout Yucaipa Community Park Amphitheater. Children ages 0-10 will enjoy an egg hunt in celebration of the Easter season. This community event will feature photos with the Easter Bunny and special prizes.
Movies in the Park
Beginning June 8, 2022, Movies in the Park will take place every Wednesday for nine consecutive weeks. The movies will be shown at Yucaipa Community Park Amphitheater and will begin at sunset. A food vendor will be available for moviegoers to enjoy snacks and treats during the screening. A list of the summer movies will be distributed in the Summer 2022 Your Yucaipa activity guide.
The 4t1i of Jul
The annual 4th of July celebration will take place on Monday, July 4, 2022, at Yucaipa High School from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This community event will feature food and merchandise vendors, a concert at 6:30 p.m., and fireworks show at 9:00 p.m. The event is free but parking on high school grounds will be $10. Staff will return to City Council at a later date for approval of the fireworks contract and site plan. .e
Concerts in the Park
Beginning July 10, 2022, Concerts in the Park will take place every Sunday for six consecutive weeks. The concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Yucaipa Community Park Amphitheater and will feature several genres of music. Staff is in the process of booking the bands and will release the information as soon as contracts are finalized.
In addition, the City has partnered with the Yucaipa Equestrian Arena Committee to put on the 2022 Rodeo on April 1-2, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There are sufficient resources, in the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Adopted Budget and Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Draft Budget, to fund the spring and summer programs listed above. �f
