Agenda Item No. 3
CITY OF YUCAIPA
AGENDA REPORT
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Fennin Preciado, Director of Development Services/City Engineer fe Todd Gutjahr, Public Works Analyst _ Tt;
FOR: City Council Meeting of April 25, 2022
SUBJECT: Award of Contract - Purchase of 2022 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado Truck RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council award and authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase contract with Rotolo Chevrolet to acquire one (1) 2022 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado LTD 4WD truck for use by the Public Works Division in the not to exceed amount of $46,492.80.
BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION:
With the wildfires, rain events and mud debris flows the City has experienced an increase in weather activity that has resulted in Public Works Division staff completing storm patrol duties and inspections. Currently, staff completes these duties in a basic two -wheel -drive Chevrolet Colorado crew cab (Colorado). The Colorado has been adequate in completing these duties; however, a full- size, four -wheel -drive truck would allow staff to complete these duties in a more efficient and safe manner.
A full-size truck is also essential in allowing staff to access parks and open space areas to collect trash and recyclable material from public waste receptacles. This effort promotes the City's Keep Yucaipa Clean Program in public parks, public facilties and public open space areas to reduce litter and promote recycling consistent with the State's CalRecycle Program which provides grant funding to the City to support and promote recycling efforts.
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the purchase of one (1) new vehicle to add to the City's fleet for use by the Public Works Division. The proposed vehicle will replace a 2WD Chevrolet Colorado truck that will be reassigned to a Public Works Ranger. Staff requested quotes for the proposed vehicle from several vendors and received 4 (four) responses. The quotes received are as follows:

The approved FY2021/2022 Capital Outlay Account includes the amount of $33,300 in Capital Outlay funds and $13,200 in CalRecycle grant funds for a total budget in the amount of $46,500 for the purchase of the proposed vehicle. Since the Public Works Division will also use the proposed vehicle for trash and recyclable collections, the use of the $13,200 in CalRecycle grant funds for the purchase of the vehicle is an eligible use of the grant funds. With the total funding available in the amount of $46,500, there is sufficient funding available to accommodate staffs recommendations.
