YUCAIPA REDISTRICTING
Every 10 years, local governments use new data from the Census to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed. Pursuant to Assembly Bill 849 (2019), cities and counties engage communities in the redistricting process by holding public hearings and workshops and doing public outreach, including to underrepresented and non -English-speaking communities.

Districts must be redrawn following each decennial federal census, so that each district is substantially equal in population. This process is important in ensuring that each City Councilmember and district represents about the same number of constituents. The City of Yucaipa is asking for your help to plan and reshape new City districts.

The map of the City's current council districts was adopted bythe City Council (Ordinance No. 348) on June 27, 2016, which served as the City's first District Map [2016 Districting Process]. During the redistricting process, you will help us reshape the five Yucaipa dis- trict boundaries, and these new districts will impact how you elect your Councilmem- bers for the next 10 years.

CENSUS REPORT
MM•p
Our primary goal when developing election districts is to draw lines that respect neigh- borhoods, history and geographical elements. So we want to know: What do you consider the boundaries of your neighborhood? Visit our redistricting page on our website at yucaipa.org/yucaipa-redistricting to find feedback forms, presentations, drawings of proposed district maps for review/com- ment/input, a schedule of all upcoming public hearings, resources, and FAQ's.

FRIENDS, WE MISSED YOU!
President's Palette
A warm welcome to 2022.1 am optimistic that with the change many of our new board members have accepted, we will jump into waters unknown, but at the same time bring along floating experience and expertise that will make the coming months not only exciting to be a part of but move YVAA in directions not thought of in the past.

One of those new directions that has been brought up several times in the past is developing a working relationship with our other art association in town, Vision Quest. I am happy to report that after attending an informal meeting with Lloyd Hietmeyer and Kit Satre (VQ board members) about this collaborative subject we are on the ground floor of building a much stronger bond between the art associations.

If you have not already made up your mind about entering a building such as the Scherer Center, we will be reinstating our regular meetings February 17th, at 7:00 pm. We are all a little on edge about mask protocols still in place, we encourage you to join us. To ease your mind YVAA's Board has received the okay from the City of Yucaipa with the caution that masks are requested to be worn.
10:00 am - 5:00 pm Personally, I feel putting on a mask is small price to pay for getting Yucaipa Community Center together with fellow artists who want to see each other and view each other's art plus get a chance to see and hear Allison Brown's presentation.

I hope to see you all there. I hear artistic masks are in style.

In an attempt to assist all awarded agencies, the City has developed an Event Reporting Financial Worksheet (attached) to ensure consistent and accurate reporting of the awarded agencies use of City funding and/or in -kind services. Along with your Event Reporting Financial Worksheet, please provide the information requested below:

1. Did the event/program meet the original intended goal? Yes, however within the club some volunteers were unable to teach as planned so the schedule changed frequently.

2. If funded in the future, what would the organization do differently? We might focus more on finding students interested in lapidary arts from the school system. We also might budget grant money to pay instructors instead of relying upon volunteers.

3. What type of feedback did organization received from the participants? Parents informed us they were very happy with the teachers for the Cabachon class as well as the Wire Wrapping Instructors. Surveys were handed out and there were no negative comments.

4. What other financial/in-kind contributions did the organziation seek or receive to fund the event/program (separate from City funding)?
The club utilized rocks from the clubs' collection which were largely donated from members.

Students also received safety equipment such as goggles at no cost. No funds were received.

5. List the total number of residents served.
24 students attended; approximately 10 more students RSVP'd but did not showup.

Attach copies of marketing/promotional materials for the event/program.

Notes/comments/additional information: Classes began in July and were planned until end of February. We utilized silver on hand and purchased replacement after the class, hence some receipts are dated after the class was held, while some items were bought before for club use and then diverted to the kids' program.

Tis the Season
"Tis the season to be merry
..." but is it?
We now have a new virus
variant - Omichron, another
school shooting and the econo-
my seems shaky.

As serious as all this is, we
can be still be merry.

If you accept, believe and
know the reason for the season.

Then it's truly possible to be
"merry" no matter the reason
or season.

Christmas tells us that Jesus
came, as a baby, to demonstrate
that we can follow in His steps
and live life on life's terms, 24
hours at a time.

So go ahead and choose to be
merry -today.

No Justice Here
In the Nov. 26 edition of the
News Mirror there was an arti-
cle on the front page entitled,
"Former Yucaipa employee
gets two years probation for
embezzlement." The article
identified the former employee
adding she was suspected of
embezzling over $300,000 from
the city and later surrendered
to authorities after a warrant
had been issued for her arrest
in November 2019. Arrested,
booked, and then released only
to not appear for her next court
appearance and then being
arrested again.

Now, two years later she
pleads guilty to the crime and
receives a "whooping" two
years probation after spending
a "whopping" two days in jail.

After over 32 years in law
enforcement you would think
that I'm not surprised by this
type of Court finding, but this
certainly this is Not Justice.

Although it states the city's
insurance carrier covered the
costs and a "restitution hearing
is pending," I would guess the
results of that will be mini-
mum, perhaps paying back $20
per month.

Interesting that the article
does not list any information
about the recovery of any of
these monies. Whatever hap-
pened to the old saying, "crime
does not pay?" It certainly paid
well in this incident and again,
there was no justice here.
