SUBJECT: Acceptance of Contract Work - Installation of Playground Equipment for Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park — Project No. 11163
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council:
1. Accept the contract work completed by Three Peaks Corporation of Calimesa, California for the Installation of Playground Equipment for Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park — Project No. 11163 in the amount of $41,520; and
2. Approve the final payment for the Project; and
3. Authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
In early 2021, the playground equipment at Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park was approximately 20 years old and exceeded its useful life. In March of 2021, portions of the playground equipment were closed for public use due to its deteriorating condition. On April 26, 2021, City Council approved and authorized the City Manager, or his designee, to acquire replacement playground equipment for Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park from Miracle Recreation Equipment Company for the amount of $43,098.92. The playground equipment consists of a two-story structure, three slides, multiple climbing apparatuses, and a gymnastics outrigger feature. This contract was for the purchase and delivery only and did not include the installation of the playground equipment.
On October 11, 2021, City Council awarded and authorized the Mayor to execute a contract in the amount of $41,520 with Three Peaks Corporation of Calimesa, CA. for the Installation of Playground Equipment for Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park — Project No. 11163 (Project) and authorized a contract contingency in the amount of $2,075 and the amount of $1,500 for construction contract administration/inspection costs for a total construction/installation budget of $45,095 for the Project.
The Project has been completed. Field inspections performed by staff during the course of the work and upon completion of the work have assured that the work was completed according to the plans and specifications for this Project. As a result, staff recommends that City Council accept the contract work and direct staff to file the Notice of Completion for the Project. -17-

On October 11, 2021, City Council approved a budget in the amount of $45,095 for the Project. The total actual cost of the Project is in the amount of $43,020. As shown in the table above, sufficient funding is available to accommodate staff s recommendations. The balance of the funds remaining will be used for playground maintenance activities as required during the current fiscal year.
