AGENDA REPORT

FOR; City Council Meeting of September 12, 2022
SUBJECT: Change Order No. 1 -Pest Management Program —Project No. It 143 RECOMMENDATION:

That City Council approve Change Order No. 1 to the contract with Animal Pest Management for the Pest Management Program — Project No. 11143 in the annual amount of $900 ($75/month) for pest management services at Cal Fire/Oak Glen Station No. 555, for a revised annual total contract in the amount of $7,662.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

Vendors have provided the City with pest management services at various public City facilities for many years. The scope of services includes providing pest management services to control all crawling and flying pests, including but not limited to spiders, roaches, ants, flies, wasps, and hornets at 18 different City facilities.

On December 13, 2021, City Council approved a contract with Animal Pest Management (APM) of Chino, CA, for the City's Pest Management Program — Project No. 11143 (Program). The contract is in the annual amount of $6,762, which began in January of 2022, for a contract period of 2.5 years, with the option to extend the contract in one-year increments for up to three (3) additional years.

The Cal Fire/Oak Glen Station No. 555 is an unstaffed/reserve fire station located on Oak Glen, Road, just south of Swedlow Trail in Oak Glen, and the terms of its use and responsibility of routine maintenance are included in the City's agreement for fire and paramedic services to the Oak Glen area with the County of San Bernardino (Agreement). The Agreement calls for the City to maintain the Oak Glen Fire Station and related equipment and provide all necessary routine maintenance for the fire station.

In order to incorporate Cal Fire/Oak Glen Station No. 555 into the annual contract to address recent pest control issues, staff requested a cost proposal from Animal Pest Management to include Station 555 in the pest management program. Staff received a cost proposal from APM to add the Cal Fire/Oak Glen Station No. 555 to the contract for pest management services in the annual amount of $900. As a result, staff is recommending Council approve Change Order No. 1 to the contract with Animal Pest Management for the Pest Management Program — Project No. 11143 for pest management services at Cal Fire/Oak Glen Station No. 555, for a revised annual total -195-
